Under the artistic direction of Es Devlin, the fourth edition of Homo Faber, An Island of Light, brings together the work of more than 500 master artisans from over 70 countries. Set within the historic spaces and gardens of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, the exhibition explores the profound relationship between light, materials and the human hand.

Visitors are invited on a multisensory journey through 15 immersive installations, each conceived as an island within the wider archipelago of craftsmanship. Devlin uses light, water, mirrors and movement to create a narrative that illuminates not only the objects, but also the artisans, their tools, materials and creative processes.

Homo Faber also brings the art of gastronomy into dialogue with craftsmanship, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the culinary heritage of Venice alongside its culture of making.

Reinterpreted through specially selected custom finishes, Cappellini’s chairs and tables become an integral part of the setting of the A Trattoria on an Island dining space. Here, design, craftsmanship and conviviality meet, expressing the brand’s bespoke approach within the distinctive context of Homo Faber 2026.
