The iconic Fronzoni ’64 chair, designed in 1964 by AG Fronzoni and manufactured by Cappellini since 1997, has been awarded the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Award for Lifetime Achievement, one of the highest honors in Italian design promoted by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale.
As one of the most representative examples of radical minimalism in 20th-century Italy, the Fronzoni ’64 chair translates AG Fronzoni’s design philosophy into a language of pure geometry, rigorous proportions, and essential forms. Its austere yet perfectly balanced presence has made it a precursor for contemporary minimalism.
More than sixty years after its debut, the Fronzoni ’64 chair continues to inspire the world of interior design, confirming Cappellini’s enduring commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of Italian design excellence worldwide.
The Compasso d’Oro Award Ceremony was held on 22nd of May at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, a landmark institution dedicated to the excellence of international and Italian industrial design.
