CARRE D’ART

Nîmes

Conceived in 1993 by architect Norman Foster, Carré d’art - Musée d’art contemporain di Nîmes represents an important link in the chain which includes the CAPC in Bordeaux, the Abattoirs de Toulouse, the MAC in Marseilles and the MAMAC in Nice, which collectively promote contemporary art throughout the Mediterranean region.

Since 1993 the museum has been located within a glass facade building which echoes the proportions of the namesake temple nearby. The museum hosts Low Pad armchairs designed for Cappellini by Jasper Morrison: a design which, in accordance with the designer’s contemporary vocation, offers maximum comfort while occupying minimal space.
