Milano Design Village - Cologne
A touch of Milanese behind Cappellini’s concept at the Cologne International MoebelMesse 2012 where the layout reproduces the setting of the new Milan showroom: a completely yellow envelope in which the first 2012 novelties and the collection presented in April 2011 are set in two living room environments and a dining area which are connected by large windows.
The first 2012 novelty is the reissue of the historic set of drawers "Dinah" by Shiro Kuramata, officially presented to the German market after the first prototype was part of the exhibition "Homage to Shiro" staged in the newly refurbished showroom in Milan and now on show in Paris. Dinah will be accompanied by two classic Kuramata pieces, the drawer "Side 1" and the armchair "Sofa with Arms" in white leather.
The second novelty for 2012, is the new "Tate Color" chair by Jasper Morrison in eight very actual and colourful finishes that occupy an entire wall in three large circles creating a sort of wall sculpture. In the first living room area "Container System", the system of full height containers with a 45cm depth, is presented in lacquered matt white with the new coplanar opening system, new handles in the same finish as the cabinet and new lighting system equipment for the internal compartments and drawers. The setting is completed by the iconic sofa "Basket" by the Bouroullec brothers, the chairs "Lotus attesa" by Jasper Morrison and a series of different tables .
The second room is a dining area characterised with opaque anthracite coloured "Sistemi" containers attached to the wall and the large "Simplon" table by Jasper Morrison with an aluminum coated base and glossy white lacquered top paired with the chairs "Bac Two", again by Morrison, in natural ash and white / black fabric upholstery. The "Antler" chair by Nendo completes the area.
The last living room area is furnished with the containers "Flexi Container" presented in the new 2012 version with base and handles in the same colour as the furniture, in this case in an intense bright grey. Also presented is an extension of the successful "Cuba 25" collection of sofas by Rodolfo Dordoni, proposed here in an anthracite coloured leather sofa-bed. The "Capo" armchair by Doshi Levien and the "Loop" desk in natural wood by Barber & Osgerby perfect the environment.
Other accessories such as the small tables "Thin Black Table" by Nendo and "Kobe" by Leonardo Talarico, both presented in April 2011, along with some wonderful objects from the collection "Progetto Oggetto" and dreamy carpets from the collection "Magic Carpet" are also on show. Different environments and ideas for window displays are united by the great design rigor and unusual combinations typical of the Cappellini world: "Explorers of design between imagination and reality."
