April 8th 2014, “Cap Town” and the other concepts for the Salone 2014 exhibition
“Cap Town” – Cappellini provokes us again this year with its ability to detect trends and signals from around the world and everyday life. Fashion-like art always has an important role in reflecting reality, bringing latent needs to the forefront and currents of thought in opposition to the mainstream which standardizes all artistic expressions. The street and – in particular – "street art" are the new protagonists, which are the basis of Cappellini’s concept for the Salone 2014 exhibition.
"Cap Town" is an array of form and color, highlighting the fluid and unique architectures of villages in the southern hemisphere. Raw and rough colors contrast with the traditional canons of aesthetics and beauty, against the vision of a world that has been beautified at all costs while leaving room for individual choices. Ten horizontal and vertical boxes represent tone-on-tone domestic and lounge areas: a living area, a bedroom, a dining room, an office, a waiting room... They all contain pieces with very pronounced character that, thanks to their personality, stand out from the standard design tastes which tend to flatten and simplify contemporary living.
Rho Fiera, Tuesday 8th – Sunday 13th April, pavilion 20 stand E01 - F06.
