Born in 1982 from an idea of Giulio Cappellini and Rodolfo Dordoni, Colombia turns 40.
Characterized by oversized dimensions, geometric shapes and an extremely free use of bright colors, primary and not, it was already revolutionary when presented to the market. Rational products yet, in their cultural attitude, approaching the expressive freedom of the Memphis movement.
For many years Colombia represented a considerable market success for Cappellini, determining a precise positioning of the brand in the crowded world of containers. After years of upright system bookcases and highly modular storage cases, we are returning to appreciate simple units, easy to combine. To celebrate Colombia’s birthday and a new focus on this type of furniture, Cappellini launches a limited and numbered edition of 40 drawer units in a brand new and ultra-modern finish.
As Colombia was revolutionary in the eighties it is again today with a fluo lacquer in two colors of great relevance inspired by fashion: fuchsia and grass green. These two colors are in this period the undisputed protagonists of the events with the highest rate of sociality and Cappellini, always aware of latest trends, takes them up.
Exceptional, precious, unique pieces to be collected and handed down, witnesses of a new and conscious rebirth of design, the real one.
