To celebrate the arrival of summer, the Spazio Cappellini Milano showroom in via Borgogna hosts a new setting curated by art director Giulio Cappellini, who decided to pay homage to the relaxed and timeless elegance of the Moroccan riyads in contrast with the chaotic greyness of the city. Therefore, soft colours such as white, beige and light blue are combined with the bright shades of blue and green inspired by North African nature.
The exhibition was inaugurated with an opening event that, in full Cappellini style, was able to merge different eras and cultures, with the juxtaposition of the ancient tradition of the Moroccan tea, symbol par excellence of hospitality, and the recent outbreak of the Italian ice cream throughout the world.
Inside the showroom, Cappellini created a moment of lazy summer relaxation furnishing the window with some iconic pieces from the collection, continuing that game of contrasts between past, present and future typical of the brand’s DNA, which looks to the hereafter without erasing its history. Among the furnishings used for the setting, also some products by Piero Lissoni and Patricia Urquiola, both guests of honour of the opening event with Giulio Cappellini. The setting is completed with a mix of objects and memories from North Africa and a video by Philipp Meuthien, a sort of travel journal with a series of images and notes taken in those places.
The Uni container by Piero Lissoni and the Millepiedi bookshelf by Dimorestudio, both displayed with a white polish finish, backdrop the brand-new Lud’o Sofa by Patricia Urquiola, presented with a light and neutral fabric, while the Dolmen table by Giulio Cappellini, made of light straw-yellow travertine, perfectly matches the Classica chair by Piero Lissoni, with natural cherry wood structure and upholstery in ecru colour. The setting also showcases the Lud’o Lounge armchair by Patricia Urquiola with a denim blue fabric cover and the iconic Embroidery Chair by Joahn Lindstén in the version with a spring-inspired decoration.
